The passenger was located and rescued from the water.
The cruise ship was on a 4-night cruise to the Bahamas, and had left Miami on the 18th March. The ship is due to return to Miami on March 22nd.
Several guests took to social media to report on events as they unfolded, including a live video of the rescue via a “periscope” app. Reports of “Oscar, Oscar, Oscar” were announced, search and rescue protocols were followed and the captain announced to the Ship that the passenger had been rescued and returned to the ship.
Jim Walker of Cruise Law News commented, “It is unusual (but great news) for an overboard person to be rescued (and so quickly) and to have an account of such good news covered via a live video.”
