MSC Crew Rescues Passenger After Jumping Off Cruise Ship

Monday June 17th – An MSC Cruises crew member rescued a 43 year old Irish woman after she went overboard from the cruise ship MSC Seaview whilst  vessel  docked at the port of Genoa, Italy

It appears that the women jumped from the deck of the ship into the sea around 10pm after a fight with her husband.

Fortunately, a crew member, Tala Vailolo, a 21-year-old sailor from Fagamalo, Samoa. heard the splash and after first responding to MOB, jumped into the sea to rescue her.

The woman was taken to the Calliere hospital where she is stable and the Italian Carabinieri have launched an investigation into the incident.

There was limited delay to the departure of the ship.

MSC Cruise released a statement saying “MSC Cruises wishes to commend the crew member and shipboard teams that were involved in the salvage action and who acted in the quickest and most effective way, securing the safety of the concerned passenger. Also, we wish to thank the Coast Guard and local law enforcement for their support.”
