Piracy Warnings For Ships in Arabian Gulf

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) have issued an Advisory Notice following a suspicious approach to a tanker in the Arabian Gulf.

The approach was made on 27th March 2020, Tunb-Farur Eastbound TSS 23nm from shore. The MT was approached by 2 skiffs with 5-6 persons on board, with a ladder raised.

The tanker took evasive measures and was safe.

The UKMTO has advised that vessels transiting the area are to exercise caution.

The United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO) is a Royal Navy capability with the principal purpose of providing an information conduit between military which (includes/security forces) and the wider international maritime trade. UKMTO delivers timely maritime security information, often acting as the primary point of contact for merchant vessels involved in maritime incidents or travelling within an area of high risk (HRA).
