Experts in maritime risk and global security, Dryad Global have reported another kidnapping in the Gulf of Guinea.
At 0400 UTC, on 16th November 2020 the Ghanaian flagged general cargo vessel, AM DELTA, was boarded by 6/7 pirates. The pirates are believed to have damaged the onboard communications and navigation equipment and kidnapped five of the crew. The ship is believed to be drifting with two crew on board.
The kidnapped crew are believed to be Ghanaian nationals.
The attack which happened at 44nm South Brass / 35nm ENE Agbami Terminal making this the 9th incident in November 2020 alone.
This latest incident takes the number of kidnapped personnel from vessels within the Gulf of Guinea to 115 personnel over 22 incidents in 2020.
